
A Nashville police officer was shot early Tuesday morning at the Cumberland Inn, 150 West Trinity Lane, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The officer injured has been identified as East Precinct officer Terrance McBride, a three-year veteran with the police department.
McBride is in stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center, according to Metro Nashville police. He was shot in the shoulder while attempting to serve a warrant at the motel.
At about 8:30 a.m., police said the suspect was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
About 5 a.m., two officers knocked on the door to a room at the Cumberland Inn looking for a person wanted on an outstanding warrant, Nashville police public information officer Kristin Mumford said.
