Former NBA player Lamar Odom checked himself into a rehab facility near San Diego to undergo treatment for chemical dependence, according to multiple published reports.
US Weekly reported Monday night that Odom didn’t suffer a relapse, but he voluntarily admitted himself because, “he wanted to get away and start fresh for the New Year.”
“He wants to stay clear and focused. With the divorce from Khloe (Kardashian) being finalized and the holidays coming up, he doesn’t want to slip up,” a source with knowledge of his admission told People. “He’s trying to take care of himself. He really wants to be better. His friends and family encouraged him to go in and he agreed and made the decision.”
Odom nearly died after he binged for three days on cocaine and sexual performance enhancement substances. He was found unresponsive in October 2015 and rushed to an area hospital.
