Vanessa Williams and Daughter, Jillian, Stun on Essence Cover

Vanessa Williams might be Jillian’s mother, but the duo looked like sisters as they graced the cover of Essence.

The 53-year-old actress looked stunning in her baby pink outfit as she showed off her youthful and flawless skin.

For the front cover the mother-of-four wore a pink wrap around dress as she posed side by side with her daughter.

The Desperate Housewives actress showed off her long brunette locks, which cascaded over her shoulder in a wavy fashion.

Her daughter looked sensational as she showed off her very voluminous blonde tresses.

Jillian’s hair was styled in big dramatic curls as she went for a subtle but full face of make-up. Nude lipstick and winged eye liner completed her savvy but sophisticated look.

The young beauty wore a spaghetti style baby pink dress that featured a cutout around her waist, showing off her taut tum.

Vanessa looked flawless for the shoot and revealed in the interview that she is embracing her age at 53.

With that comment she did reveal that she still encounters ageism in Hollywood, as she spoke of a particular incident where a director of photography didn’t like the way her face was looking on screen.

‘The DP asks my makeup artist, “What am I to do?” ‘ Williams said.

She responded by telling her makeup artist, ‘This is 53. This is what it looks like. Tell the DP to learn how to light it!’

The in demand actress also revealed what a hard worker she is: ‘When they yell, “Cameras ready!” I am the first one there,’ she says. ‘The director and producer notice. I take whatever I’m doing seriously.’

Jillian is Vanessa’s second eldest child – she also has three other children, two daughters and a son.

She has three children with Ramon Hervey II including Jillian, Melanie Hervey, 29, and 23-year-old son Devin Hervey.

She has 16-year-old daughter Sasha with Rick Fox.

Vanessa and Ramon were married from 1987–1997, however two years after their split she met former basketball pro Rick Fox and the pair were married from 1999–2005.

She is now happily married to accountant Jim Skrip, with the couple tying the knot in 2015.

The actress has two acting projects coming out in 2017, a TV series called Daytime Divas and also a fantasy, sci-fi film The Man from Earth: Holocene.

Their January issue of Essence will be on newsstands Friday.
