Jeb Bush to Teach Course at Texas A&M In January

One of President George H.W. Bush’s children is coming to Texas A&M University to teach a course at the school started by the former commander-in-chief.

Jeb Bush, who served as Florida’s 43rd governor from 1999 through 2006, will teach a ten-day elective course in January at the Bush School of Government and Public Service. The course will focus on gubernatorial leadership and its impact on government.

According to the Bush School Friday, 65 students have signed up for the course, which will run from January 6-16, before the formal start of the spring semester. Professor Blease Graham will be a co-instructor.

“Governor Bush is a dedicated and accomplished public servant who will provide our students—future leaders in public life—with a vivid perspective of the challenges facing state officials,” said Bush School Dean Mark Welsh in a statement Friday. “We are very pleased to offer a course of this nature and look forward to Governor Bush’s arrival on campus.”

The Bush School also released a video on its social media pages with a message from Governor Bush, who jokes about being a graduate of A&M’s longtime rival, the University of Texas at Austin.
