Months after first making the wild allegation, Suge Knight is now suing Dr. Dre with claims the hitmaker hired hitmen to kill him.
The jailed Death Row Records founder claims Andre “Dr. Dre” Young wanted him dead to get out from under an alleged lifetime management agreement specifying Knight should get 30% of the millions Young made selling his Beats headphones business to Apple and producing “Straight Outta Compton” for Universal.
Knight claims Young first hired a gunman to shoot him inside the 1Oak nightclub in West Hollywood in August 2014 and then funded a follow-up armed assault at Tam’s Burgers in Compton in January 2015.
“Dr. Dre did it. Andre Young is responsible for both crimes,” Knight’s new lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court states.
“Serious attempts on Knight’s life began only after Young was paid through Apple on May 28, 2014,” the lawsuit claims.
“Given that Dre has had zero interaction with Suge since leaving Death Row Records in 1996, we hope that Suge’s lawyer has lots of malicious prosecution insurance,” an attorney for Dr. Dre states.
The new civil filing from Knight’s lawyer Thaddeus Culpepper is a cross-complaint in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the widow of Terry Carter.
