NBC has given a script commitment to a single-camera comedy from NBA star LeBron James and prolific producer Bill Lawrence, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
There Goes the Neighborhood centers on the first white family to move into a predominantly black, newly gentrified neighborhood in Cleveland. (An Ohio native, James plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, which in June won its first-ever NBA championship.)
The half-hour hails from James’ SpringHill Entertainment and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions, which will produce in association with Warner Bros. TV, where both banners are based.
Lawrence and Jeff Ingold will executive produce for Doozer along with James and Maverick Carter for SpringHill. Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan (Community) and Ron Funches (Undateable) are the writers and also will executive produce.
