Tim Tebow, known for his strong religious beliefs, weighed in on NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protests during the national anthem.
Tebow, at New York Mets’ instructional league camp, was asked after a workout about his thoughts on Kaepernick’s protest, but was very cautious with his answer.
“The taking a knee?” Tebow said on Tuesday. “You know I think there’s a lot of people who have thoughts out there. For now, I’m just going to keep mine to myself.”
Then Tebow expanded his answer.
“When people have belief in something,” said Tebow, “or conviction in something, trying to stand for that is a good thing, and it’s all about standing for it the right way.’’
During his NFL and college football career, Tebow was known for taking a knee in celebration as an expression of his Christian faith. It drew criticism and praise, just as Kaepernick’s protest.
