The world’s highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge has closed to visitors just two weeks after it opened.
The bridge in China’s Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon opened to the public on August 20 but closed yesterday after receiving an overwhelming number of visitors.
Only 8,000 people are allowed to cross the stomach-churning attraction each day, but CNN reported that a spokesperson from the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon’s marketing and sales department said demand was ten times as much.
There have reportedly been no accidents and no problems with the bridge itself, but it is thought the closure is due to efforts to update the attraction facilities including ticket-booking, customer service and car parks.
