Plenty of fathers have no doubt shed a tear after seeing their children off to school for the first time.
However not many would choose to make a video of that private moment and post it online for the world to see.
But former football player turned sportscaster Jarrett Payton was brave enough to go on camera the day that he dropped his son, Jaden, at his first day of preschool, and how he was reduced to tears afterwards.
Payton wishes his son well and then walks back to his car.
‘Well I tried holding to together,’ Payton says into his phone camera.
‘My son’s getting big, man. I don’t know if there is anything cooler than being a dad, man. That’s real.’
Payton then posted the video – featuring a collage of clips of Jaden getting ready for the big day – to his Facebook account on August 22.
Walter Payton is a former professional gridiron football running back and is the son of Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton.
Payton was previously signed as an undrafted free agent by the NFL Tennessee Titans. He retired in 2011.
‘I don’t miss it,’ Payton, who is married to wife, Trisha, told ESPN.
‘When I wake up in the morning, I’m pretty content with what I did in my career and places that I got to go and play. Football took me all the way around the world.’
