Multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning gospel singer Yolanda Adams inspires both Olympic athletes and NFL players.
In a new interview, Seattle Seahawks Quarterback, Russell Wilson, a devout Christian, says he listens to the powerhouse vocalist to prepare for games.
“’I’m Gonna Be Ready’ by Yolanda Adams. That’s probably my go-to song,” the gifted athlete, who has led the Seahawks to two conference championships and the franchise’s first Super Bowl title, tells Complex.
Canadian Olympic track and field star Mohammed Ahmed also says Adams’ music helps “instill self-belief” before he hits the track. His song of choice? “I Believe.”
Elite-level athletes all have their pre-performance rituals and for Wilson, who recently wed R&B singer Ciara, it’s about finding the right playlist to condition his mind. “Before a game, I’m always listening to gospel music. I’m just so grateful on game day,” says the 27-year-old.
When asked if he likes to mix in some of the most popular mainstream Hip Hop to his pre-game musical selections, he tells his interviewer no.
