Two people were wounded Monday in a shooting over an attempted robbery of Pokemon Go players in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said six people were at Freedom Park to play the popular mobile game around 4 a.m. when a man in a vehicle attempted to rob the group. Metropolitan Police said he demanded money and property, when one of the Pokemon Go players drew his own weapon and gunfire was exchanged.
The attempted robber was hospitalized with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He and his underage driver are both expected to be charged.
Meltzer told the Associated Press that the Pokemon Go player who shot the attempted robber had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
One Pokemon Go player was shot in the stomach and taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Meltzer told the AP it’s unclear if that person shot is also the player who had his own gun but that the group of local players knew each other.
