LISTEN: The Prayer Motivator Minute #855 with Daniel Whyte III

Daniel Whyte III

Elizabeth Elliot said, “All our problems are theological ones, William Temple said. All of them have to do with our relationship to God and his to us, and this is precisely why it makes sense to come to God with them.”

Our prayer motivator verse from the Word of God today is Acts 9:11 which reads: “And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth.”

Our prayer motivator quote today is from R.A. Torrey. He said, “God has not changed; and His ear is just as quick to hear the voice of real prayer, and His hand is just as long and strong to save; as it ever was.”

Daniel Whyte III has spoken in meetings across the United States and in over twenty-five foreign countries. He is the author of over forty books including the Essence Magazine, Dallas Morning News, and Amazon.com national bestseller, Letters to Young Black Men. He is also the president of Gospel Light Society International, a worldwide evangelistic ministry that reaches thousands with the Gospel each week, as well as president of Torch Ministries International, a Christian literature ministry.

He is heard by thousands each week on his radio broadcasts/podcasts, which include: The Prayer Motivator Devotional, The Prayer Motivator Minute, as well as Gospel Light Minute X, the Gospel Light Minute, the Sunday Evening Evangelistic Message, the Prophet Daniel’s Report, the Second Coming Watch Update and the Soul-Winning Motivator, among others.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Bethany Divinity College, a Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Texas Wesleyan University, a Master’s degree in Religion, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Master of Theology degree from Liberty University’s Rawlings School of Divinity (formerly Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary). A series of homilies on Ephesians

A homily is “a short talk on a religious or moral topic; a usually short sermon; a lecture or discourse on or of a biblical theme.”

I am sharing a verse-by-verse series of short messages on Ephesians (as well as other passages of Scripture) specifically targeted at reviving families and encouraging and exhorting husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, and children to do what God has commanded them to do, for if the church is to be revived and the country is to be awakened, the family must be revived first.

TEXT: Ephesians 1:18-23:

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

—-

D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said, “A revival, then, really means days of heaven upon earth.”

Leonard Ravenhill said, “If preachers don’t believe the Word of God, why should the people believe it? If we don’t believe it and obey it, why should the world believe us?”

In their book, The Ten Greatest Revivals Ever, Elmer Towns and Douglas Porter share with us: “Early in 1906, ten dedicated young Christians hiked through a mountain jungle for two weeks to get to an outlying district church. When they arrived, they quickly became disappointed, because the entire ministry was in Khasi, a language which none of the Mizo Christians understood. They observed and sensed a strange power at work in the meetings, but with no one to explain what was happening, it had little apparent impact on their own life. They left the meetings to return to their homes, pausing at the village of Chatlang to pray. During that prayer, they ‘felt their hearts filled with a strange joy.’ Some regard this as the beginning of the Mizo Outpouring.”

—-

Today, we begin looking at how God wants us to have our eyes opened to the ‘exceeding greatness of His power.’ As I have shared with you already, Paul uses five different Greek words to emphasize the power of God that is available to the believer.

The first aspect of this “mighty power” is shown in the saving work of Jesus Christ. Verse 20 says that God’s mighty power was “wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.” The raising of Jesus from the dead was no small matter. If everyone could walk free from death, they would. But Jesus did what no man has ever done before or since: He willingly laid down His life and then took it up again. That’s power.

Not only was this power shown through the completion of the saving work and the raising of Jesus Christ from the dead, but it was shown in the saving of our souls. Many men have tried very hard to save themselves, yet no one has ever succeeded in doing so. But, God, through His mighty power, has brought many to salvation by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. While each of us must choose to receive Christ as Savior, it is Jesus who does all the work. It is Jesus who broke the power of sin and Satan. It is Jesus who pulled us out of darkness and into light. It is Jesus who brought us from death unto life.

If God has the power to raise Jesus from the dead, and to pull you out of spiritual death, imagine what kind of power He has to bring you out of dead situations in your life right now. You can be free from unconfessed sin, addiction, broken relationships, depression, worry, doubt, uncertainty about the future. All of it comes from Satan and is designed to make you live at a level that is far less than what Christ intends for you to live. You can overcome these things if you depend on God’s mighty power to defeat them.

Let’s pray.

Now, if you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, please keep in mind that the Bible says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” Just pray and ask Him to come into your heart and He will. I will be sharing more on the matter of salvation in the next segment of our service which starts in about 5 minutes.

LISTEN: Jesus the Triumphant, Part 18 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 194 with Daniel Whyte III)

TEXT: John 12:44-48

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

———-

Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing the main thing — and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents, politicians, and people, but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey the Lord’s Great Commission which is to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” and who have refused to obey God’s repeated commands to “pray without ceasing” for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord gives you peace about voting for. But, don’t get caught up in it like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord.

This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says, “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” Acts 5:42 which says, “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the “Old, old story of Jesus and His love” — As another hymn says, “For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.” This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 194.

W. Hall Harris III said, “‘He that rejecteth me’ is a strong expression, referring to the one who ‘rejects’ or ‘refuses to recognize’ Jesus deliberately. Again we see the polarizing emphasis of [John] the Evangelist in his recounting of these words — a person either accepts Jesus, trusting in him, or a person rejects him utterly, leading to eternal ruin.”

A young, married couple were struggling financially. One day, they got a letter in the mail from a bank where they had borrowed some money, but had not paid back. The wife, opening the letter and turning to her husband, cheerfully said, “The bank says this is our final notice. Isn’t it wonderful that they’re not going to bother us anymore?”

Ladies and gentlemen, it is never wise to ignore a final notice when it comes to money or any other serious matter in life. And what matter could be more serious than your relationship with God and the eternal destination of your soul? In our text for today, we find Jesus giving His final notice to the Jews. He is about to go to the cross to die for the sins of the world. Yesterday, we saw in the message of the dying God-Man a great urgency. He cried out that He is the Light in the darkness, the One come to save the world, not to judge it.

However, there is a more sobering side to Jesus’ final notice, especially for those who choose not to believe on Him. In verse 48, Jesus says, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

Jesus’ first coming was a day of grace. Everyone was invited to believe on Him then. Those who believed on Him began a relationship with God, began to grow into the likeness of Christ, received all the blessings that are promised to those who believe, and were given a home in Heaven. However, there were some who did not believe. These were those who ‘rejected’ Christ and ‘received not’ His words. They did not believe on Him or begin to obey Him. For these people, Jesus promises a ‘last day’ of judgment.

Jesus says that the person who rejects Him already “has one that judgeth him.” What is it that judges those who reject Christ? Jesus says it is “the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” If you reject Christ, when you face God, you will be reminded of this very day when you heard the Gospel preached plain and clear. All the Jews in first century Palestine who heard Jesus’ words but still did not believe, would be reminded of what they heard on that last day of judgment. They would, as the Bible says, be without excuse.

Jesus’ warning of a day of judgment does not diminish his earlier proclamation that He had come to save, not to judge. As one commentator said, “Both the warning of judgment to come and the appeal to believe in Jesus now are expressions of God’s great love for sinners.”

Don’t ignore Jesus’ final warning. John Calvin said that Jesus “lays aside for a time the office of a judge, and offers salvation to all without reserve, and stretches out his arms to embrace all, that all may be the more encouraged to repent.” If the simple offer of salvation does not encourage you to believe in Jesus, perhaps the warning of judgment on the last day will encourage you to do so.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Saviour, John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and I want to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
