Cuba Gooding Jr. Who Met One of the Officers Who Died in Dallas ‘Cried’ After Hearing the News

Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. said he “cried” when he heard that Dallas police officer Patrick Zamarripa was one of the fatalities from the deadly rampage in Dallas Thursday night.

Turns out Gooding Jr. had met Zamarripa briefly when he posed for a picture with the officer in February.

Zamarripa, who smiled broadly with a fellow officer in the February picture, posted the photo on his Twitter account.

“The great @cubagoodingjr. Thanx for taking the pic with my partner and I. Hope your stay in #Dallas was great sir!” Zamarripa tweeted.

Zamarripa, a five-year police veteran and the father of a 2-year-old girl, was among the five officers slain in the Dallas attack which injured seven more people. It ended with police killing the shooter — Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, of Mesquite, Texas, a military veteran who had served in Afghanistan.

In what appeared to be a random run-in with a video-photographer on Friday night, Gooding Jr. stopped to briefly address a question over Zamarripa’s death.

“I cried today when I heard that.” an emotional Gooding Jr. said in the video posted to “I cried, that’s all I’m saying.”
