Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton canceled their respective campaign events Friday in the wake of the slaying of five police officers in Dallas.
Clinton was supposed to appear with Vice President Joe Biden in Scranton, Pennsylvania, while Trump was due to speak in Florida. “The senseless, tragic deaths of two people in Louisiana and Minnesota reminds us how much more needs to be done,” Trump said in a measured statement. Five officers died when a sniper opened fire after a Black Lives Matter protest.
