LISTEN: Jesus the Triumphant, Part 10 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 186 with Daniel Whyte III)

TEXT: John 12:27-33

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

———-

Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing the main thing — and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents, politicians, and people, but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey the Lord’s Great Commission which is to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” and who have refused to obey God’s repeated commands to “pray without ceasing” for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord gives you peace about voting for. But, don’t get caught up in it like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord.

This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says, “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” Acts 5:42 which says, “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the “Old, old story of Jesus and His love” — As another hymn says, “For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.” This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 186.

C.S. Lewis said, “Enemy-occupied territory — that is what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign of sabotage.”

When Jesus publicly accepts God’s plan for Him, the Heavenly Father speaks from Heaven expressing approval of His Son. It is unclear whether or not the people understood the actual words that were said. What is clear is that they knew that what they were hearing was divine. The Bible says, “The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.” God declared His approval of His Son, giving the people additional confidence in Him.

Now that He has accepted His hour, He knows that things are coming to a head. He says, “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”

In the events leading up to and during the crucifixion, not only were the sins of the world being judged in Jesus, but the world itself was being judged by God. The “world” is a reference to the fallen state of man led by Satan, ‘the prince of this world’ who caused it to fall. The world is in opposition to God’s kingdom. Jesus left His place in God’s kingdom and came to Earth to save the world. Yet, as we have seen throughout the Gospel of John, the world largely rejected Jesus. It is as if a Coast Guard ship sent a lifeboat to rescue drowning men, and the men not only refused to get on the lifeboat, but they dragged the captain of the lifeboat down into the water with them.

When Jesus was put on trial, the world system was also put on trial. People, in general, think of themselves as basically good. Surely, all of the good people in Jerusalem who had come for the Passover would not allow an innocent man to be crucified. But, no; the world system showed its true colors on that day. Some of the same people who were singing Jesus’ praises on Monday or Tuesday were demanding ‘Crucify Him! Crucify Him!’ on Friday. The world chose a robber over the innocent Son of God. What happened that weekend was an indictment against the world system and the people in it. Their actions showed that they were, as the Bible says, depraved and desperately wicked.

Not only was the world judged, but Jesus said, “now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” The Fall came when the first man faced a test from Satan and failed to pass that test. His failure broke the fellowship between God and the human race, allowing mankind to become slaves to a sin nature with Satan as their prince. The world became Satan’s “territory.”

When God sent Jesus down to Earth, it was as though He had launched a missile from Heaven. It was a declaration of war — a war for the hearts and souls of mankind. Jesus’ struggle over His own crucifixion and His death on the cross was the great battle of that war. It was a test — one that Jesus passed. By willingly dying on the cross for the sins of the world and then rising from the dead, Jesus accomplished what had been prophesied all the way back in Genesis. He crushed Satan’s head — threw him off his throne — deposed him of his phony position of leadership in the world. ‘The prince of the world was cast out.’

One of the most powerful scenes in The Passion of the Christ movie comes at the very end right after the resurrection, where the devil, who has been lurking in the background and instigating things in the hours leading up to the crucifixion, realizes that everything has gone wrong for him. The closing scene shows him in a pit, throwing off his cloak, and howling up at the sky in anguish.

It may have looked for a while like Jesus would be defeated on that day, but Jesus was triumphant. By His crucifixion, He exposed the world for what it is and cast the devil out of his position of control. Jesus the Triumphant!

Now, you do not have to be a slave to sin or Satan. You can choose a better way. You can choose the way of Jesus Christ, the Triumphant One. You can be on the winning side, singing with so many others…

Once I drifted out in sin, had no hope nor joy within,
And my soul was burdened down with pride
Then my Savior came along and He showed me I was wrong,
Now I know I’m on the winning side.

Well, I’m on the winning side, yes, I’m on the winning side,
Out in sin no more will I abide;
I’ve enlisted in the fight for the cause of truth and right,
Praise the Lord, I’m on the winning side!

Get on the winning side today, dear friend by receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior. Here is how:

John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and I want to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light Society.com and read “What To Do After You Enter Through the Door”. LISTEN: The Foundations of All Spiritual Blessings, Part 10 (Revive the Family, Revive the Church, Awaken the Nation, O Lord #151 with Daniel Whyte III)

A series of homilies on Ephesians

A homily is “a short talk on a religious or moral topic; a usually short sermon; a lecture or discourse on or of a biblical theme.”

Daniel Whyte III
Daniel Whyte III

I am sharing a verse-by-verse series of short messages on Ephesians (as well as other passages of Scripture) specifically targeted at reviving families and encouraging and exhorting husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, and children to do what God has commanded them to do, for if the church is to be revived and the country is to be awakened, the family must be revived first.

TEXT: Ephesians 1:7-14:

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of time he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

—-

Bonaventure said, “As our Lord asked the sick man whether he wished to be healed, so, without our consent, He will not save us; and sinners are without excuse for not consenting to the will of the Lord and their own salvation.”

Leonard Ravenhill said, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? The man who has a degree? The man who wears a collar? The man who stands behind an ornate desk with stained glass windows? No, a man can be plowing in the fields and ascend unto the hill of the Lord. He that hath clean hands — that’s our relationship with the world; and a pure heart — that’s our relationship to God, has access to the throne of God at any time.”

In their book, The Ten Greatest Revivals Ever, Elmer Towns and Douglas Porter share with us: “The Korean Revival was born out of intense prayer, and prayer remained an integral part of Korean church life throughout the twentieth century. In many churches, ‘concerts of prayer’ are still practiced in Sunday morning services, with the whole church confessing their sins to God and then calling on God in unison for his blessing. In what have come to be called the “Dawn Meetings,” many Koreans still gather every morning at their churches at five o’clock for prayer. Friday nights are devoted to all-night prayer meetings.”

Early on in Ephesians 1, we talked about the meaning of predestination and election. Some mistakenly view these doctrines in a vacuum, separate and apart from other passages of Scripture. However, we see in verse 13 that human will plays a role in salvation. Paul writes to the believers of Jesus “in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed…”

Three times in this verse we see human action in the salvation process. First, the Ephesians “heard the word of truth, the gospel of salvation.” It was not forced onto them. They chose to hear it. Then, they “trusted.” It was a choice to trust that what they were hearing was true. Finally, they “believed.” They chose to believe in Jesus. While God knows who will choose to hear the Gospel, trust that what they are hearing is true, and believe in Jesus Christ, this does not mean that He forces anyone to make those choices.

Once a person willingly makes the choice to believe in Jesus Christ, Paul says, ‘Ye are sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.’ Now, this is something God does. Once we are His, He seals us by the Holy Spirit. In the Bible, the word “seal” has several meanings which apply to Christians:

1. The seal is a mark of ownership. It shows that we belong to God.

2. The seal is a mark of security. It keeps us from being snatched back by Satan.

3. The seal is a mark of authenticity. It shows that we are true believers of God and that we are what we profess to be. It means that we are saved beyond a shadow of a doubt.

4. The seal is a mark of preservation. It shows that God will keep us and preserve us until He calls us home.

In short, God calls us (in His love, mercy, and grace), we answer (by our own choice and of our own will), and then God seals us as His own.

Let’s pray.

Now, if you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, please keep in mind that the Bible says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” Just pray and ask Him to come into your heart and He will. I will be sharing more on the matter of salvation in the next segment of our service which starts in about 5 minutes.

LISTEN: Even Mo’ Letters to Young Black Men: Introduction (The Brother’s Keeper #52 with Daniel Whyte III)

Daniel Whyte III
Daniel Whyte III

Dear Y.B.M.:

I trust that you are doing well.

I hope that you have taken heed to the advice I gave in my first two series of letters to you. In doing so, I trust that by this time you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior and that you are growing in your relationship with God through prayer, Bible reading, church attendance, and sharing the Gospel with others in your community.

I trust also that you are making headway on the road of education and that you are learning and growing in knowledge and understanding. Most importantly, I hope that you have prayed for and received God’s wisdom.

I hope that your relationship with your family members, friends, and acquaintances are strong and healthy, and that you have taken seriously the Biblical directives given regarding dealing with your parents, grandparents, siblings, wife, children, or what have you.

In the over twenty years since I wrote Letters to Young Black Men, a lot has changed, but a lot has stayed the same. Honestly, I still have to say that our community is in a bad away generally speaking. But there are pockets of hope amid the decay, light amid the darkness. And, through this third volume of letters, I hope to nurture the light, feed it, and help it grow so that young black men in America may rise and lift their communities out of the mire by the power of God.

In this volume, we will discuss three very important topics:

1. Living a life that matters: Everybody wants to (or should want to) do something of significance with their life. I will show you how to find your purpose and pursue it with all your might.

2. Character and leadership: Our community needs people who are leaders rather than followers, but a good leader is not just one who can inspire, but one who has the character to do the right thing and lead others to do the right thing even when the odds are against them.

3. Finances and business: Like it or not, money is very important in this life. In this section, I will teach you how to get some and keep some. I will also show you how to live a life of freedom by working for yourself by doing a job that you love.

As always, everything that I share will be based upon Biblical principles and proven wisdom.

I hope that you are ready for this leg of journey that will change your life and benefit your family and your community.

Yours truly,

Daniel Whyte III

LISTEN: Establish an Action Environment, Part 1 (Get Things Done! #42 with Daniel Whyte III)

The simple purpose of this podcast is to help you get things done every day so that you can accomplish something worthwhile with your life.

Daniel Whyte III
Daniel Whyte III

As we begin, let me give you this reminder from the Word of God. Proverbs 22:29 says: “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Our quote for today is from Dale Carnegie. He said: “Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. ”

Today, in the Get Things Done podcast we are looking at Part 1 of Step 7: “Establish an Action Environment”.

Q: To what extent does the physical environment affect procrastination?

In many cases, it plays a key role; in others it’s a minor factor. But it will always encourage or discourage action to some degree, so it must be considered.

Q: What environmental factors are most important in preventing procrastination?

Two of the most important considerations are (1) to have the necessary tools and materials at hand, and (2) to have them organized.
