Jennifer Hudson took the audience at the 2016 BET Awards to church on Sunday.

The Academy Award-winning singer and Broadway darling — who first paid homage to Prince during a Color Purple show back in April — once again graced the stage in his honor, channeling the late chameleonic legend in a white, hooded ensemble and delivering a Holy Ghost-inducing rendition of his 1984 classic, Purple Rain.

Hudson’s tear-jerking tribute was just one in a score of performances dedicated to Prince’s memory. Hers joined faithful covers from Erykah Badu and The Roots, Bilal, Tori Kelly and Stevie Wonder, Maxwell, Janelle Monae (in butt-baring chaps, no less) and Sheila E. BET previously promised to properly honor the Purple One after Madonna’s May 22 BBMA tribute, which the network felt failed to capture Prince’s genius.
