Bishop T.D. Jakes, a well-known advocate for women in ministry, is celebrating his eldest daughter’s ministerial elevation.

This weekend, Cora Jakes-Coleman officially received her graduation certificate from The Potter’s House School of Ministry, making her an ordained Elder.

Her proud papa beamed on Instagram in a sweet open letter to the preaching powerhouse, saying how proud both he and his wife First Lady Serita Jakes are.

“You’ve always said from the age of five, that you were called to preach,” wrote the 59-year-old pastor of The Potter’s House of Dallas, the mega church from where Jakes-Coleman earned her license.

Quoting the aspirational words of his female mini-me during her youthful days, Jakes wrote, ‘I’m gonna be a preacher, just like my Daddy!’

Well, looks like her early declaration manifested.

It’s official y’all got it first!!! ELDER CORA JAKES COLEMAN!!

“It was my honor to witness this mighty moment give birth under my hand and in my life time!” continued Jakes. “Of all the other roads you could’ve taken some honorable but not sacred, others could’ve left you in a prison or dead (the perils of parenthood) you immediately or eventually rejected them all! So to me, this is a celebration of good judgement, spiritual submission and a lot of prayerful nights, as much as calling!”

It’s no surprise that Bishop Jakes has played an integral role in helping his daughter fulfill the ministerial mandate on her life. According to him, women have value in the church beyond their economic support and should be heard.
