The main criminal courthouse in downtown Miami has been evacuated and is temporarily closed because of a bomb threat.
A Miami-Dade County courts spokeswoman said most trials and other proceedings that had been scheduled for Thursday will be reset. Some bond court proceedings were scheduled to take place in the afternoon.
Miami-Dade police say the threat involved claims that an unspecified number of pipe bombs had been placed at the courthouse, formally known as the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building.
It had not been confirmed by late morning whether any bombs actually had been found. The Miami-Dade police bomb squad was investigating the claims.
