North Ridgeville police have arrested a man for breaking into a church. And they didn’t have to go far to find him, since he was already in jail….for breaking into a church (and a house).

Robert Duane Davis, 50, of Medina is accused of breaking into the First Congregational Church in North Ridgeville in February.

According to police, Davis would go to a church and tell them that he was the pastor of a struggling church in Lorain. He’d ask for donations, and then take note of where the church kept their petty cash. Once the church stopped its donations, Davis would allegedly to back to the church and steal the cash.

After police finished their investigation into the February robbery, they found Davis already in the Medina County Jail. He had been caught burglarizing a house while he was on parole for breaking into other churches.
