New Orleans Man Arrested in Kenner After Teen Girl Found in Ditch

The boyfriend of a woman whose teenage daughter was found dead in a ditch last week in St. Charles Parish was arrested in connection with the case Monday.

Daniel Beckley, 40, was arrested on a warrant for second-degree murder and obstruction of justice charges, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office said Beckley was identified as a suspect early on in the death of Jorion White, 16. He has been the live-in boyfriend of the teenager’s mother for the past 10 years.

Beckley was taken into custody Monday morning without incident. He was taken to the parish jail on the charges. Bond has not been set.

The Sheriff’s Office held a news conference Monday about White’s death. She was a student at Bonnabel High School.

White was reported missing from Kenner, and her body was found April 24 in a ditch on St. Rose Avenue. Her mother and the coroner’s office confirmed the body was White.

The coroner’s office said White’s cause of death was classified Friday as a homicide. Officials obtained an arrest warrant for Beckley after obtaining witness testimony and forensic evidence.
