A Rochester man who is accused of shooting at a Rochester police officer was arraigned Thursday morning in Monroe County Court.
Investigators say 34-year-old Silvon Simmons shot at officers earlier this month when an officer approached the car he was in on Immel Street. A Rochester police officer returned fire, shooting Simmons several times.
We spoke with Simmons’ father as well as a civil attorney looking into the case for Simmons and his family.
“I’ve been provided with some facts and circumstances which make me believe that Silvon may be innocent of the crimes that are being alleged against him,” says civil attorney Charles Burkwit.
Silvon’s father Frank Simmons said, “We believe that God is going to be the exonerator and we continue to ask everybody to continue to pray for this family.”
