During his Thursday appearance on Good Morning America, Michael Strahan went out of his way to praise his Live! co-host Kelly Ripa.
Ripa was not present for Wednesday’s episode, the first show after it was announced Strahan would be moving to GMA full-time in September, and was a no-show again on Thursday. Her conspicuous absence was widely interpreted as a protest about being kept in the dark until just before the news broke.
She had vacation scheduled for Friday through Monday and is not due back until at least Tuesday. Erin Andrews filled in on Thursday’s episode, and taped another to air Friday, and Pretty Little Liars’ Shay Mitchell was already scheduled for Monday’s show.
Strahan sang Ripa’s praises on GMA, crediting his co-host and executive producer Michael Gelman for showing him the ropes of a live daily TV show following his 2007 retirement from professional football.
