Judge Rules Alabama Abortion Law Unconstitutional

A federal judge on Friday permanently struck down Alabama’s law requiring abortion doctors to obtain admitting privileges at a local hospital. According to U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson, the unconstitutional law would make it near-impossible for women to get an abortion in the southern state. The judge’s ruling comes as the U.S. Supreme Court weighs the constitutionality of a similar Texas law.
