While a noted theologian and Christian leader is grateful the Obama administration has finally recognized the Middle East genocide for what it is, he says those words are empty if they aren’t followed by action.
Following extreme pressure from Congress, Secretary of State John Kerry declared on March 17 that ISIS is perpetrating genocide against Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East. However, according to U.S. officials, Kerry’s proclamation doesn’t obligate America to take additional action against ISIS.
Dr. Richard Land, president of Southern Evangelical Seminary & Bible College, finds that stance “morally bankrupt and morally reprehensible.”
“The only thing worse than saying it’s not genocide is to acknowledge that it is genocide but say they’re not going to do anything about it,” he tells OneNewsNow. “When you have the ability to stop evil and you don’t, you become morally culpable for the evil that is being perpetrated.”
The genocide, he says, needs to be stopped now.
