Gifted boxer Shawn Porter, who is preparing for his Welterweight Championship fight has been boxing since he was 4 years old.

In a sit down with CBN’s 700 Club, the 28-year-old said, “God gives everyone gifts. You have to figure out what your gift is and use it to honor Him.”

So far, Shawn has impressively won 26 of 28 fights. He lost his IBF Welterweight Title in 2014, his only professional loss. He now faces Keith Thurman for the WBA title as the main event when CBS televises it in primetime, the first live telecast since Leon Spinks upset Muhammad Ali 38 years ago.

To remind him of where his strength comes from, the boxer who is known as “Showtime,” keeps a certain scripture on the thigh of his fight-night boxing trunks.
“Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I carry it on my shorts for two reasons: #1, it’s so that I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. But also anyone out there who’s watching me knows that it’s not Shawn Porter who’s doing that. That’s God,” he told CBN.

When asked when he has seen Jesus Christ defend and fight on his behalf, Shawn responded by saying, “I feel like whenever I’m on TV, I’m never told, you can’t say that! You shouldn’t say that. We don’t want you to say that.  So I think that’s God defending me. I think that’s God giving me my opportunity and not allowing anyone to take it away from me.”
