Peyton Manning addressed allegations that he sexually assaulted a Tennessee trainer in 1996, saying he “did not do what has been alleged.”
The Denver Broncos quarterback did not bring up any specifics in his retirement news conference on Monday but asserted his innocence. Jamie Naughright accused Manning of pressing his genitals and buttocks against her face while she was examining his ankle.
“I think it is sad that some people don’t understand the truth and the facts,” Manning said. “I did not do what has been alleged and I am not interested in relitigating something that happened when I was 19 years old. This is a joyous day, a special day.
“And as Forrest Gump said, that’s all I have to say about that.”
