Gladys Knight Serenades Utah Cop With ‘Happy Birthday’ During Traffic Stop

A police officer got the birthday gift of a lifetime after being serenaded by Gladys Knight during a traffic stop.

The music legend sang “Happy Birthday” and was willing to pose for a picture. A vehicle Knight was a passenger in was pulled over near Pleasant Grove, Utah, on Wednesday, police said in a Facebook post.

Officer Paul Rogerson had stopped the car for speeding and was checking the driver’s license when he was informed that the songstress was on her way to an event for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Associated Press reported.

The seven-time Grammy Winner got out of the car after Rogerson mentioned that he and his wife, who was riding with him at the time, were big fans.

The officer let the driver go with a warning, something he likely would have done even if the 71-year-old Knight wasn’t in the car, Pleasant Grove Police Captain Mike Roberts told the AP.
