New Jersey Homeless Man Reportedly Beat Woman with Lawn Chair

A 49-year-old woman is in critical condition after a 62-year-old homeless man allegedly beat her Sunday night with a broken plastic lawn chair in a liquor store parking lot in New Jersey, according to police.

The unidentified woman was flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with extensive head trauma, detective Lt. Ross Hoffman said on Monday.

Police identified the suspect as Clarence Jenkins, who is in Cumberland County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail. Jenkins, also is known as “Dog-Man,” is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Hoffman said officers were dispatched at 7:55 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man and woman fighting. On arrival, officers say they found Jenkins “actively striking” the woman.
