Peyton Manning says Cam Newton Was ‘Extremely Humble’ in Defeat

Following the Denver Broncos’ 24–10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, Peyton Manning called Cam Newton “extremely humble” in defeat during an appearance on the Today Show on Monday.

Newton, who completed just 18 of 41 passes against the Broncos, was sacked six times. He also threw an interception and lost two fumbles. He was later criticized for walking out of his postgame.

Manning, however, added on the Today Show that Newton was nothing but gracious to him following the game.

“I’ve been on that side of it,” Manning said. “It is tough, it is not an easy pill to swallow. But he was very nice to me and I really appreciated that.”

The 26-year-old Newton was named the league’s MVP on Saturday.
