TEXT: Isaiah 2:1-4

1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Life Under the 1,000-year Reign of Jesus Christ, Part 2 — The Future Wars of the Nations (Part 13)

In our last message, we began to discuss the different aspects of the Millennial Kingdom based on passages throughout the Bible. Revelation tells us that with Satan bound and imprisoned for 1,000 years, Jesus Christ will “rule the nations with a rod of iron.” What kind of world will this be? We have already seen that the following will take place:

1. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Jesus Christ will be the supreme ruler of the earth.

2. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Jerusalem will be the capital of the world.

3. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, there will be no more war.

Mal Couch said, “The word ‘millennium’ in Greek means one thousand as in one thousand years, and is used six times in Revelation 20:2-7. The word clearly defines the length of the earthly kingdom reign of Christ. The early church was ‘pre’ millennial and expected Christ to return and establish the throne of David, as promised in the Old Testament. Premillennialism holds to the literal promises of an earthly kingdom and cites how the apostle Peter referred to 2 Samuel 7:12. In Acts 2:30, he said, ‘[David was] a prophet, and [knew] that God had sworn with an oath to him, that… he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne.’ Many references describe this coming blessed, earthly period. For example, the Anointed King will have the nations for His inheritance, and He will gather the ‘dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth’ and exercise justice in the land of Israel. ‘The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb’ and the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord.’”

Today, we are going to look at two more aspects of life under the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ.

1. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, nature will be in harmony once again. Isaiah 11:6-9 reads, “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Before Adam and Eve sinned, there was never a conflict between humans and animals, or between one kind of animal and another. These spheres of life were at peace with each other. The effects of sin in the earth created enmity between these spheres of life. When Jesus Christ rules from Jerusalem, this former harmony of creation will be restored.

2. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Israel will finally gain the security that she has long sought. Amos 9 says, “In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old… I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.” Today, Israel is insecure in its own land. It is surrounded by neighbors who want to see it removed from existence. It is often subject to double standards on the world stage. In Europe and other places around the globe, including on many American college campuses, anti-Semitism is on the rise. Going back in history, we find that there have been numerous attempts to eradicate Jewish populations — Haman’s attempted massacre of the Jews in Persia, the Catholic Church’s persecution of Jews during the Inquisition, Hitler’s attempt to wipe out the Jews in Europe. During the Millennial Kingdom, Israel will be safe from all her enemies. She will possess more land than she ever had before. And the nations surrounding her will be her friends and allies.

If you are with us today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to share with you how you can trust Him for salvation so that you can be ready for His return.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
