A woman accused of running over her husband doesn’t deny causing his death, but says it wasn’t murder.
Katherine Seals, 28, has been charged with the murder of her husband, 27-year-old Justin Campbell.
In an exclusive jailhouse interview, Seals cried at times when she described their relationship and his death. She was dressed in an orange jail-issued jumpsuit and was shackled. She says she’s being treated in the mental health ward for depression.
“It was an accident-a major accident. I feel horrible. I took my best friend and my children’s father. I love him so much,” she told Eyewitness News. “I’m in disbelief. I’m sitting here charged with murder. If I could take it back, I would.”
Our camera wasn’t allowed inside as is standard Harris County jail policy.
On Tuesday, prosecutors said Seals stomped on the gas pedal and hit her husband on purpose early last December after Campbell accused her of cheating on him. He spent two weeks in the hospital before he died.
Seals says it was just another fight in a yearlong marriage filled with violence and now she’s charged with murder. The couple have a son together. Seals also has a 5-year-old daughter.
“They lost a father and now they’re losing another parent. It’s beyond scary. I have so much regret. My biggest regret is him not being here,” said Seals.
Seals was arrested Friday and is now being held in jail on a $500,000 bond. She was already on probation for assaulting an ex-girlfriend.
