A Mississippi pastor has started the new year in a new direction, taking his ministry from the pulpit to the locker room.
Faced with some medical issues with his vocal chords back in early 2013, Scott Nicholson knew his time of preaching in Fulton, Mississippi, was coming to an end. The Free Will Baptist pastor realized that preaching and fulltime ministry – speaking as many as three times a week from the pulpit – had taken their toll on his throat.
“So we were praying and asking God to open a door,” he says of him and his wife, “and we had made the announcement that we were going to retire from pulpit ministry at the end of 2015 – and the Lord opened the door about the same time for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.”
Nicholson tells OneNewsNow he can now he see how God was orchestrating his steps all along as he begins 2016 working for the non-profit Christian sports ministry, helping to impact coaches and athletes in Northeast Mississippi.
