Among the 12,000 people in St. Louis this weekend for the Church of God in Christ’s annual convention is Bishop Rance Allen of the Rance Allen Group, which has been nominated four times for Grammy Awards in the gospel music category.

Earlier today, Allen and other COGIC members stopped in for lunch at Pappy’s Smokehouse in midtown St. Louis and chatted up owner Mike Emerson.

Allan and his brothers, Tom and Steve, began recording on Stax Records in 1969 and also played the famous Wattsax concert in 1973 at the L.A. Colliseum.
