‘Kill a Cop’ Graffiti Found in Garner, North Carolina

Police in Garner have discovered the second instance of vandalism in the past week in which the words “Kill a Cop, Save a Child” have been scrawled in the town north of Raleigh.

A mural outside the town’s new police station was defaced on Friday.

Garner Police Chief Brandon Zuidema said during a news conference that the same phrase was discovered on Monday morning on doors and walls at the back of businesses in the Garner Village shopping center.

The city and affected businesses are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Zuidema says the act constitutes a hate crime and says his department is treating the threats seriously.

As of early Tuesday, the department had raised $2,500 online to repair the damaged mural.
