Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is a father again.
The Vikings announced shortly before their game against the San Diego Chargers that Peterson’s wife, Ashley, gave birth to a son, Axyl Eugene Peterson, on Sunday morning.
Peterson told USA TODAY Sports during training camp that Ashley was due Oct. 4, the same day the Vikings have a road game against Denver, and he intended to play no matter when the couple’s second child arrived.
“If she’s in labor, I’ll be on the field playing, and right after, I’ll head over and see her,” Peterson said July 26. “But I’ve got to take care of business. She knows what it is.”
Axyl is the seventh child for Peterson, 30, who missed most of last season following his indictment for injuring his 4-year-old son while disciplining the boy with a wooden switch.
