Robby Gallaty has been named Long Hollow Baptist Church’s next senior pastor.

In services throughout the day in Hendersonville on Sunday, church members voted 99 percent in favor of affirming the pastor who most recently served as senior pastor at Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga.

Gallaty, 39, preached three sermons on Sunday following a unanimous recommendation of the church’s Pastor Search Committee.

He holds a Ph.D. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and is the author of a number of books, including Growing Up, and Firmly Planted.

Long Hollow has five campuses and a weekly attendance of more than 7,000. In 2013, Long Hollow  became the first Southern Baptist church in the state to baptize more than 1,000 people a year.

In November 2014, members mourned the loss of Senior Pastor David Landrith, who died from a rare and aggressive form of cancer at the age of 51.

Kevin Ezell, president of the North American Mission Board, has been serving as the church’s interim pastor.

According to a church media release, a Pastor Search Committee was formed in January and met 33 times over seven months before Gallaty’s unanimous selection.

“You will not find a more committed disciple-maker, pastor, learner, and proclaimer of the Gospel than Robby,” said committee member Chris Carroll.
