Franklin Graham is calling President Barack Obama to action to address the Syrian migrant crisis, saying the problem must be addressed quickly for the sake of the refugees and to stop ISIS from infiltrating the West.

Graham is the head of the humanitarian ministry called Samaritan’s Purse. In an open letter to Obama, he cites his 40 years of experience in the field, including aid work with refugees and displaced people.

He offers some advice on steps that could be taken to help quell the unfolding manmade disaster.

“I would like to add my voice to those supporting the establishment of safe zones in Syria. This would allow Syrians fleeing from areas of conflict inside the country to find safety, food, medicine, and shelter, and stay within their borders, nearer their homes, until a political and military settlement has been reached,” he writes on Facebook.

Graham expresses deep concern for the refugees whose lives are at great risk, and who are often exploited by human traffickers.

He contends the U.S. must join forces with allies in Europe and the Middle East to establish safe zones through the use of military force.
