Former USF Defensive Lineman Elkino Watson Dies After Stabbing Incident

Police confirmed Sunday the death of former USF defensive lineman Elkino Watson in a stabbing incident outside an Ybor City, Fla. nightclub, the Tampa Bay Times reported. Watson was 23.

A Miami native, Watson appeared in 45 games for the Bulls, starting nine in his 2014 senior season and finishing with 36 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks. Per the Sporting News, Watson was among the undrafted players invited to the Chicago Bears’ minicamp this past May.

Police said a fight broke out in a parking lot near Ybor City’s Orpheum nightclub, which had hosted a postgame party following the Bulls’ 51-3 win over Florida A&M on Saturday. Two victims were stabbed in the fight, including Watson, who died from his injuries Sunday morning.
