As undercover videos of Planned Parenthood’s practice of harvesting and selling baby body parts goes viral, the Congressional Black Caucus has remained silent.

This is a major concern to the niece of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. In an open letter to the CBC, Alveda King said their “silence is deafening.”

“By serving Planned Parenthood you are not only hating the other or despising the other but your position is helping to kill our people,” she said. “Take the lead in calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. It’s time to stand up for truth.”

The Caucus, which is known to support African Americans, partly helps fund Planned Parenthood.

But King asks how they could support an organization she says targets African Americans for abortions. According to CDC reports, a whopping 35 percent of abortions in the United States are performed on African American women and their pre-born children –the highest abortion rates among all ethnic groups.

King reminded the CBC that Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, targeted the black community.

The latest undercover video, released by the Center for Medical Progress, features Mary Gatter, a senior medical director for Planned Parenthood. In it, Gatter discussed prices she would charge for intact fetal body parts.

“I thought surely this current gruesome behavior on the part of PPH would be the catalyst for change: Surely, now the CBC will yank their support of an industry that is involved in the illegal harvesting and selling of body parts of aborted babies,” King said. “But yet we hear nothing. Your silence is deafening.”

“I know first hand the pain abortion can bring,” wrote King, who was saved from being aborted. “There is no agape love in abortion and trafficking baby body parts. They are hateful and violent deeds.”

“CBC, you cannot serve both God and money,” she concludes. “You cannot serve both Planned Parenthood and your constituents.”

Pro-life activist Alveda King recently spoke with CBN News about the controversy and her call for African-American leaders to take action against Planned Parenthood. Click here to see her interview with CBN’s Caitlin Burke.
