3. Secretary of State John Kerry warned skeptical lawmakers not to nix the contentious nuclear deal with Iran, insisting that it includes strict inspections and other safeguards to deter cheating by Tehran.
4. A strong earthquake shook a sparsely populated region along the border between Colombia and Panama on Tuesday evening.
5. EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini insisted on Tuesday during a visit to Tehran that she made the trip to begin implementation of the nuclear accord with Iran.
