Kickstarter Campaign to Restore Neil Armstrong’s Spacesuit

We have all heard the name Neil Armstrong, the first man to take step on the moon back on July 20th, 1969 from the Apollo 11 mission. Well, a Kickstarter campaign started by the National Air and Space Museum Smithsonian Institution is in the processes of restoring Mr. Armstrong’s spacesuit by conserving it, digitizing it, and displaying it.

The campaign started back on Monday and set it’s goal to $500,000, which was reached within five days. As of yesterday (Saturday), the campaign reached $525,000, and all those extra funds will be used to conserve, digitize, and display the suit. Right now, it cannot be displayed because it is set in a climate controlled collection that is not accessible to the public.

The Smithsonian is trying to have the suit restored for the 50th anniversary in 2019 so it can be displayed to the public and tell the incredible story of the suit, even with the lunar dust still holding on. Wouldn’t that be an awesome vacation to take and learn more about the Apollo 11 mission, plus Neil’s suit?
