Student-organized “Women Betrayed” rallies on Tuesday against Planned Parenthood are numerous following the release of three undercover videos offering evidence that the organization profited from the sale of aborted baby parts. Sixty events are planned in cities nationwide, according to Students for Life President Kristan Watkins. Some GOP heavyweights will attend the event in the nation’s capital.
The Virginia-based interest group launched an aggressive social media campaign featuring such attention-getting Twitter hashtags as “#ppsellsbabyparts.”
The speakers list at a rally planned for the east side of the U.S. Capitol includes Ben Carson, Sens. Rand Paul and James Lankford, Reps. Marsha Blackburn, Andy Harris, Tim Huelskamp and Chris Smith will be on the speaker’s podium — along with Marilyn Musgrave, Susan B. Anthony List; Penny Nance, Concerned Women for America; Jeanneane Maxon, Americans United for Life; and Arina Grossu, Family Research Council.
“Planned Parenthood has betrayed the very patients – women and their children – who they claim to care about and have compassion for. Tiny humans have become commodities and a part of their business model,” says Ms. Hawkins.
“Planned Parenthood had a net profit of $127 million in 2013-2014. Let them fundraise and support themselves like any other business in the country that isn’t deceiving women and making money off of taking the lives of the most vulnerable,” Ms. Hawkins adds.
