Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles Installs Rev. Sidney O. Smith as New Pastor


Joyous praise filled the sanctuary of Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church (TRMBC) on May 31 as members, local clergy, and community leaders gathered for the pastoral installation of the Rev. Sidney O. Smith. 

With the Rev. James K. McKnight, pastor of Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship, presiding, the spirited service included uplifting music, powerful prayers and the installation message by the Rev. Gregory C. Oliver, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Compton.

Other participants in the installation service included Dr. Paul Felix, president of Los Angeles Bible Training School;  Caleb Smith, son of Pastor Smith; the. Rev. Stacey Robertson and the TRMBC Combined Choirs.

Reflecting on his new assignment, Smith said, “I feel blessed by God.  This is God’s choice, God’s doing and I feel empowered by God to carry out the duties He has set before me.”

TRMBC member Delois Burbie-Love shared, “We are so wonderfully blessed and we thank God because we have been without a pastor for a while.  We had men giving us the Word, but we needed a shepherd and now, Pastor Smith is here.  I really look forward to working with him.”
