It’s only been a week since gospel recording artist Vickie Winans, 61, underwent surgery. And yet, she’s back on the road.
The May 19 operation to repair a painful rotator cuff tear in her shoulder became necessary after a freak accident last year.
According to Winans, while staying in the room of a five-star hotel, a chandelier fell on her, hitting her head, shoulder and arm.
Due to the forceful blow, the “Release It” singer was left with ruptured muscular tissue, negatively affecting her tour schedule.
“Right before I just broke on down and had the surgery, my shoulder was getting so bad until I had to start canceling dates!” she explained in an Instagram post.
For a time, Winans attempted to keep up her normally frenetic pace of travel, but the pain became too much to handle.
The vocalist, whose career began in 1985 with the release of her debut solo album Be Encouraged, received a “Stellar Medal of Distinction,” at this year’s Stellar Awards ceremony in Las Vegas.
