Josh Duggar has cancelled an upcoming appearance amid his child molestation scandal, TMZ reports. The 19 Kids and Counting star was expected to speak at a home schooling convention this week in Sandusky, Ohio.
According to TMZ, the father of three, 27, told organizers that his presence would cause too much of a distraction. The event planners, in turn, commended him and his TLC reality family for how they handled the matter.
Duggar gave a statement about the child abuse claims that have been surrounding him via Facebook on Thursday. His conservative parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, and his pregnant wife Anna are sticking by him through this time.
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” he said in a lengthy statement. “We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”
