14-Year-Old Boy Gunned Down Walking to School in the Bronx

A baby-faced Bronx teenager was executed on the street Friday by a gunman wearing a red bandana who blasted him multiple times at point-blank range — and without any warning.

Fourteen-year-old Christopher Duran cried out “Mommy! Mommy!” as he was laying dying outside a laundermat, sources said.

“We have video of the shooting,” a police source said. “It’s bad, real bad. The guy runs up to him and just shoots him, bang, bang, bang. It doesn’t look like he says anything to him.”

Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce confirmed the existence of the surveillance video and agreed “it’s pretty gruesome.”

The hoodie-clad gunman may have been trying to “disguise what he looks like” with the bandana, he added.

“We look at that as a very distinctive piece of clothing,” said Boyce. “You can see him walking off to the other side.”

Duran was no stranger to police — he had already racked-up five previous arrests, including possession of a knife, assault and battery, and robbery.

But investigators suspect Duran’s killer may have been exacting revenge for something his 18-year-old brother — a reputed member of the Bronx-based “280” gang — did, sources said.

Duran’s family, who hail from the Dominican Republic, insisted he was no gangbanger.

“He’s a pretty boy,” his uncle, Jose Mendoza, said. “He never do nothing. He never hangs out with gangs, nothing like that.”

Breaking down in tears, Mendoza said “it breaks my heart.”

“The only thing I want to know, who did it, and why he did it,” said Mendoza, 29.

“His mom is going crazy,” said Duran’s cousin, Stephanie Guzman, 25. “There’s no words for how they feel.”

“He was a good kid, he was a normal kid, he liked to hang out with friends,” Guzman insisted.

But Duran also had a menacing online presence.

On March 14, 2012, he posted a photo of a Smith and Wesson pistol on his Facebook page. And on Dec. 27 of that same year, he posted photos of himself flashing what appear to be gang signs.
