A Jackson, Miss., officer was injured during a shooting Sunday night in an incident that reportedly left the local Police Department stunned, according to the Clarion-Ledger, coming just a week after the shooting deaths of two other police officers. No one was killed in the latest incident, but several shots were fired, one of which struck the unidentified officer in her leg.

“We just had two officers that were buried in Hattiesburg, so we’re very emotional right now,” police spokeswoman Colendula Green told the news site, referring to officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate, who were killed earlier this month while conducting a traffic stop. “When we got the call, I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I just got to praying.”

Officers were reportedly trying to clear the parking lot of a food mart somewhere around 9:30 p.m. Sunday when shots were fired.

“Gunshots started happening, bullets started flying. [Jackson Police Department] started shooting back wildly,” Desmond Brown, the co-owner of the Express Fuel Food Mart, said. “There are bullet holes in that canopy.”
