WATCH: Black Fox News Contributor, Angela McGlowan, Slams First Lady’s Commencement Speech at Tuskegee


First Lady Michelle Obama may have scored points with the folks at Tuskegee University for her commencement address to the class of 2015, but apparently it wasn’t good enough for Angela McGlowan.

During an appearance Tuesday on “Fox & Friends,” the Fox News contributor was critical of Obama, saying she was too focused on the “negative parts of America” while not bringing up systems like affirmative action, according to The Root. In McGlowan’s eyes, Obama probably got where she is today because of affirmative action.

“Why didn’t the first lady share the reason why she got into Princeton was probably because of affirmative action? The reason she became an associate at a law firm was probably because of diversity, that they needed a woman. Not saying she wasn’t qualified, but they needed a woman, and a woman of color. That’s a twofer,” McGlowan said. “Instead she talked about the negative parts of America. Now, do we have a level playing field in America? No. Is racism still alive? Yes. Is sexism still alive? Yes. But being the first black first lady, I would have expected a more positive message.”

Continuing to put her two cents in, McGowan mentioned that that Obama probably invited more criticism from conservatives in light of her connection to President Barack Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder.
