Tom Ellis takes the lead in ‘Lucifer’ based on the DC Vertigo supernatural comic book, which has a series order at Fox.
A number of series are being canceled and renewed at this very second. New shows are also being announced as they get picked up for a series order by various networks. One of those shows, which we’ve heard quite a bit about in recent months, is Lucifer. Based on the DC Vertigo supernatural comic book, the show has been picked up at Fox. And today, we have a first look at Tom Ellis as the lead.
The news comes just one day after NBC officially announced that they have canceled another DC supernatural series, with Constantine now looking for a home elsewhere. The hope is to find digital distribution for Season 2. Will Lucifer have better luck finding an audience on Fox?
Tom Ellis stars as Lucifer in the Fox supernatural drama, playing the bored, unhappy Lord of Hell. In the series, he resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. Co-starring alongside are Lauren German as Chloe Dancer, an LAPD homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer; Lesley-Ann Brandt as Lucifer’s best friend Maze, a fierce demon who takes the form of a human woman; Nicholas Gonzalez as Dan, an LAPD homicide detective wary of Lucifer; D.B. Woodsideas Amenadiel, an angel sent to L.A. to persuade Lucifer to return to hell; and Rachael Harris as Linda, Lucifer’s therapist.
