A former music producer who helped launch acts like Kenny G and Whitney Houston has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme.

Charles Huggins got the prison term on Wednesday in federal court in Manhattan.

Prosecutors said the 69-year-old Huggins lived a life of luxury off the money of dozens of investors across America. They said he made fake promises that they would get high rates of return on investments in gold and diamonds from West Africa.

Huggins was convicted of fraud at a trial in 2014. He told the judge on Wednesday he had “nothing to say” about the scam.
